Our next walk is a Grade C outing to Ards Forest Park . Co Donegal on Sunday 19th November.

Photos on this page from our last outing to Knockmany Forest

On Saturday October 28th 2017 thirteen ramblers arrived at the arranged start point for the planned walk to Mullaghcarbatagh / Mullaghclogher. As we were about to set off we learned that a group of “Target shooters” had already set up on the hillside ready for a morning’s activity! We then decided to travel to Cranagh village from where we set off on an alternative walk. We approached Carnakilly along a road/ path through the townland of Oughtdoorish and on to open hill where we saw evidence of the devastation caused by the floods on August22nd in the Glenelly valley and beyond. Visibility was at times only 20 or 30 yards. We proceeded in a westerly direction to Mullaghdoo (568m) where we had lunch. From there we continued along a ridge to Mullaghclocha (635m) from where we began our descent through Glenchiel and back on to the Glenelly Road about half a mile from Cranagh village . Despite the foggy weather and thanks to the expert guidance of a veteran rambler whose GPS was invaluable on this occasion a good 8.5 mile walk was enjoyed by all.

The new autumn/spring schedule for 2017/2018 is now on walks programme page
