Name: Joan Cunningham
Joined the Ramblers in January 1991 - a friend saw a report about the formation of the Club and suggested I might like it! She, herself, didn't join, but I have been ever since.
First Walk; Somewhere in the Gortin Glens - cannot remember all the details, but I think we went up to Mullaghaharn through the forest.
Favourite walks: I like walks by the sea or near the sea.
Most memorable walks: a couple where it never stopped raining and on one occasion we had to take our lunch in the cars before heading for home! Apart from that a few in Donegal, Knockalla, Fanad Head, Horn Head, Slieve League.
Favourite Holiday walking Destinations: Elba, Cinque Terre, Greek Islands
Positions held within WTR: On Committee on several occasions and held the position of secretary
Accessory never to forget on walks: lunch!!; walking poles
Favourite music: mainly classical
Food: pretty much everything
Reading; historical novels, crime fiction, travel books
Reasons why I go out with WTR: Apart from the obvious one of getting exercise, the social aspect is the main reason, and also I get to places I never would have been otherwise; there seem to be new places to discover all the time, which is wonderful. I have made many good friends in the Ramblers and would recommend it as a very enjoyable experience.
